Organization Description:

Founded in December 1999 as Wataniya Telecom and rebranded to Ooredoo Kuwait in 2014, the company has evolved from a pioneering wireless operator into Kuwait's foremost digital enabler. Over the past 25 years, Ooredoo has led the national and regional telecom landscape through bold innovation, customer-centric solutions, and transformative infrastructure development.

Ooredoo Kuwait has delivered one of its most significant and innovative technology achievements through the successful nationwide deployment of the new 2.3 GHz spectrum band, made possible by the strategic vacating and re-farming of 2.6 GHz. This complex transition-completed in a record time of just five months-demonstrates Ooredoo Kuwait's leadership in spectrum planning, network innovation, and operational excellence.

The initiative began with the strategic decision to introduce 2.3 GHz as a new mid-band layer to strengthen both 4G and 5G capacity across the network. The challenge required vacating the existing 2.6 GHz band, retuning thousands of live network parameters, and ensuring that customer experience remained seamless. Through meticulous preparation and exceptional cross-functional coordination, Ooredoo Kuwait executed this transformation while ensuring minimal or largely unnoticed disruption to customers.

Months before formal regulatory clearance, Ooredoo Kuwait launched a comprehensive readiness program that enabled rapid deployment once approval was granted. This included detailed audits of more than a thousand sites, end-to-end RAN design, hardware and software compatibility checks, device ecosystem testing, and close alignment with vendors and field partners. Dedicated war rooms brought together teams from RAN, planning, implementation, transmission, core, optimization, regulatory, and operations to resolve every dependency in advance-ensuring no delays once implementation began.

When the spectrum became available in Sep 24, Ooredoo Kuwait was able to deploy the 2.3 GHz band almost immediately. 2.6 GHz spectrum was vacated by adding 2.3GHz by 1st week of Mar 25. The nationwide rollout was executed within approximately six months, a remarkable achievement given the scope and complexity of re-farming spectrum on a live, high-traffic network. Advanced automation tools accelerated configuration updates, cluster-level parameter tuning, and performance optimization, enabling fast and consistent deployment across all regions.

The impact of the transition has been substantial. The introduction of 2.3 GHz significantly boosted 4G user experience, improving capacity and handling of high-density locations. Simultaneously, the new mid-band layer enhanced 5G performance, increasing throughput, improving cell-edge experience, and strengthening overall network resilience. This upgrade also positions Ooredoo Kuwait for 5G-Advanced capabilities and the growing demand for next-generation services.

This achievement reflects Ooredoo Kuwait's commitment to innovation in technology management, planning, and execution. By combining proactive readiness, strong governance, advanced automation, and precise implementation, the company transformed a challenging spectrum transition into a strategic advantage. The successful and rapid deployment of 2.3 GHz stands as one of the fastest and most efficient nationwide band migrations in the region.

Through this initiative, Ooredoo Kuwait has demonstrated excellence in spectrum strategy, operational agility, and customer-focused innovation-setting a new benchmark for high-quality, future-ready network evolution.
