On May 7, 2025, guests arrived at what appeared to be Yas Island's 15th anniversary celebration, expecting a commemorative event. The invitation hinted at nostalgia and a look back at the destination's journey, but what unfolded was something no one anticipated.

As guests and media made their way to the exclusive media event, the truth slowly began to unfold. At exactly 4:00 PM, anticipation gave way to astonishment. A cinematic reveal began to play and within moments, the message was clear: A whole new world awaits. Disney is coming to Abu Dhabi. Gasps filled the room.

It would be the region's first-ever Disney Theme Park and Resort.

Some guests looked in disbelief, while others burst into applause. Surprise quickly transformed into emotion. There was laughter and an overwhelming sense of awe. The purity of this real-time reveal made it unforgettable.

Following the historic announcement, guests, media, and global icons including Naomi Campbell, Tyrese Gibson, Nancy Ajram, Chiara Ferragni, and Ed Westwick, were transported to Yas Links for an extraordinary celebration under the stars. The evening began with a stirring musical tribute that blended global artistry with cultural depth. Grammy Award-winning composer and arranger Steve Sidwell opened the show, followed by the world-renowned pianist Lang Lang, whose melodies were brought to life by fountains and lights choreographed in perfect harmony with each note. Kerry Ellis then delivered a soaring vocal performance, setting the stage for a moment of pure enchantment. Soon after, the crowd was swept away by a heartfelt bilingual performance as Rashed Al Nuaimi and Sonya Balsara took the stage to sing the iconic A Whole New World, performed in Arabic and English, symbolizing the harmony between Disney's global legacy and Emirati culture.

Then came the showstopper: over 9,000 drones lit up the night sky with a record-setting aerial display. Guests watched in awe as fireworks and fountains complemented the drones, which concluded with the dazzling drone formation of the iconic Disney Castle, majestically illuminating the night sky. Tears were shed in what was truly a moment for the books.

The magic wasn't limited to Yas Island. Across the UAE, iconic landmarks joined the celebration. The Burj Khalifa and Aldar HQ were illuminated with Disney-themed visuals, allowing people throughout the country to share in the wonder.

As the celebration unfolded, phones lit up the night. Guests began capturing and sharing every moment. Social media was flooded with real-time reactions. Many described the event as "a dream come true" and "the most magical reveal in regional history." In the UAE, Disney fans expressed how the announcement awakened deep-rooted childhood memories and delivered a powerful message of cultural pride. Selfies were taken, and videos went viral.

What made the achievement truly unique from the guest's perspective was the integrity of the surprise. In an era where entertainment news travels fast, this reveal was protected with near-mythical secrecy. Guests were invited under the guise of a 15-year anniversary, a believable and well-executed decoy. Every touchpoint, from event branding to media outreach, reinforced the narrative until the very last moment.

The event didn't just deliver a wow factor; it delivered emotional resonance. For many, it wasn't just an announcement but a memory to carry forever.

From the immersive setting and symbolic staging to the execution and scale, every element was designed to be experienced, not just seen. Guests left knowing they hadn't just attended a reveal; they had witnessed a cultural milestone.

Ultimately, the announcement succeeded because it put the guest at the heart of the story. The magic was not only in what was announced but in how it was experienced.
