Organization Description:

The Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Evidence, is one of the largest public departments in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the backbone of security and legal work in the Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It contains 6 departments.

Bahrain's Counseling and Rehabilitation Program for extremists and individuals influenced by radical ideologies is a national initiative designed to strengthen intellectual security, protect youth from harmful influences, and promote long-term social stability. The program recognizes that extremism is not only a security concern but also an intellectual and psychological challenge requiring a comprehensive and humane approach. Its central mission is to reshape misguided beliefs, address underlying vulnerabilities, and empower participants-especially young people-to build constructive and resilient lives. The program's implementation includes phases of psychological therapy, religious dialogue, educational workshops, and holistic social rehabilitation. A core component of the program is its focus on intellectual security, ensuring that participants develop the ability to critically evaluate extremist narratives and resist manipulation. Specialized religious scholars, counselors, and psychologists work closely with individuals to correct misconceptions and introduce moderate, accurate interpretations. Through open dialogue, participants are encouraged to reflect deeply on their beliefs, understand the dangers of extremism, and adopt healthier perspectives. Personalized psychological assessments also help identify factors such as trauma, isolation, or misinformation that may have contributed to their radicalization, allowing for tailored intervention plans that address each participant's needs.

The program places strong emphasis on protecting and guiding youth, recognizing that they are often the most vulnerable to extremist recruitment. By equipping them with emotional support, critical thinking skills, and positive role models, the program reduces the risk of them being drawn into dangerous ideologies and instead helps them develop their talents, ambitions, and sense of purpose. Educational workshops focus on youth empowerment, personal development, conflict resolution, and responsible citizenship-essential tools for building confidence and resilience. Family engagement and community integration also play a vital role. Families receive guidance on how to support participants during and after the program, ensuring a stable environment that reinforces positive change. Social workers help participants transition back into society through vocational training, employment opportunities, and mentorship programs.

Notably, more than 129 individuals have benefited from the program, particularly those included in the Royal Pardon granted by His Majesty the King, reflecting Bahrain's commitment to rehabilitation and second chances. This achievement highlights the program's success in transforming lives and reinforcing national harmony.

Through its comprehensive, preventive, and humane approach, Bahrain's Counseling and Rehabilitation Program supports national security while upholding human dignity, fostering social unity, and developing the potential of its youth for a safer and more resilient future.
