Organization Description:

Ooredoo is an international communications company operating across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. Serving consumers and businesses in 9 countries, Ooredoo delivers leading data experience through a broad range of content and services via its advanced, data-centric mobile and fixed networks.

Since 2023, our Ooredoo HR Team launched the following initiatives:

  • -
  • Our EVP, 'we inspire growth journeys', a revolutionising process of elevating our culture to empower our employees' growth from the grassroots up. It touches on all aspects of our employee communication throughout their journey with us, from the recruitment process to their final day and beyond.
  • -
  • Total Rewards which integrates competitive pay structures, performance-linked incentives, market-leading benefits, robust mobility programmes, and staff perks.
  • -
  • Ooredoo Learning Academy (OLA) platform, including formal learning, on-the-job training, and peer-to-peer learning. Some of OLA's opportunities include:
  • -
  • The Leadership Development Program (LDP) in partnership with Harvard.
  • -
  • Our Coaching & Mentoring programme where we train employee volunteers to become ICF-accredited coaches for peer-to-peer learning.
  • -
  • Function-specific training to upskill our specialists in Finance, HR, Digital Marketing and Sales.
  • Talent Density programme using in-house capabilities and inter-departmental collaboration to aggregate our talent across our markets (around 16,000 employees) to build succession strategies and identify future experts. Every employee now has a blueprint on how to reach their full potential in their career journey with us.
  • Our in-house annual employee experience and pulse surveys to measure culture and employee experience through continuous open and transparent feedback, without prejudice. This feedback continues to be an advocate for change.
  • We launched a Global Mobility Programme for employees to gain experience across our different markets and promote on-the-job learning opportunities

Our HR Team's achievements are significant in that:

  • Our initiatives demonstrate cross-Group collaboration and integration. We leverage our internal skills and capabilities to build innovative solutions, based on technology. For example, the Talent Density project involved our IT and Business Services colleagues. Our HR O-Bots that disseminate Group policy and KPI information were similarly devised by cross-departmental collaboration.

There have also been projects involving Finance, Procurement, and the Innovation Team.

  • We've built up our in-house capability to tailor-make our initiatives to our needs, sharing learnings with our colleagues to replicate across our markets, e.g. our in-house annual employee experience survey, ensuring consistency and continuity while benchmarking to international standards and offering our people the opportunity to develop their own innovative skills.
  • We're people-led. We believe in an open and transparent workplace that thrives on constructive feedback to aid improvement and continuous learning and guide our initiatives. As a result, we've introduced a well-being allowance, Wellness Days, Family Day, Mental Health First-Aid awareness and various health initiatives to champion self-care, wellness and holistic health. We've introduced our Ways of Working policy for employees to work from home or abroad. We also revamped our employee onboarding programme to support employees from their first application onward.

The results have been evident in our Sustainable Engagement Score which climbed from 75 in 2021 to 89 in 2024, with our Senior Leadership score rising 15 points above industry norms.
