- Organization Description:
Founded in December 1999 as Wataniya Telecom and rebranded to Ooredoo Kuwait in 2014, the company has evolved from a pioneering wireless operator into Kuwait's foremost digital enabler. Over the past 25 years, Ooredoo has led the national and regional telecom landscape through bold innovation, customer-centric solutions, and transformative infrastructure development.
Since July 2023, Ooredoo Kuwait's Technology team has delivered breakthrough innovations that have significantly advanced network capability, customer experience, and operational intelligence-cementing Ooredoo's position as a regional leader in 5G, 5G-Advanced, and AI-driven networks.
A landmark achievement was the commercial launch of 5G Advanced in June 2025, supported by advanced 5G carrier aggregation. With this nationwide upgrade, Ooredoo became one of the first operators in the region to introduce 5G-A at scale, enabling higher peak speeds, lower latency, and greater spectral efficiency for both consumer and enterprise services.
This milestone built on earlier 5.5G performance trials, where the team successfully achieved 10Gbps throughput using mmWave and multi-band aggregation-demonstrating leadership in next-generation radio evolution and validating readiness for commercial 5G-A.
Network coverage and indoor experience were further strengthened through extensive low-band 5G deployments and modernization of indoor systems across key venues. These enhancements improved deep-indoor performance, mobility KPIs, and VoNR readiness across the footprint.
Ooredoo also advanced its strategic technology roadmap by rolling out a 5G SA-ready core and enabling the 5G RedCap ecosystem for next-generation IoT.
Customer experience innovation was elevated through Gaming Turbo, a feature designed for ultra-low-latency gaming. Gaming Turbo CPEs detect live gameplay and signal the network, which then prioritizes these sessions using intelligent traffic handling and 5G-A capabilities. In addition to the feature, Ooredoo introduced a Gaming Turbo package, allowing customers to subscribe to enhanced gaming performance-strengthening loyalty and creating a new value-driven segment. A major transformation since 2024 has been the launch of Ooredoo's new Managed Services operation, which delivered one of the most successful operational results in the region. This program enabled the deployment of a next-generation CEM platform powered by advanced AI modules-capable of reflecting the customer experience, identifying hidden experience gaps, and automating resolution workflows. As a result, Ooredoo achieved a measurable reduction in repeated complaints and significantly improved customer satisfaction across high-traffic zones. In parallel, the enhanced SON platform-integrated with intelligent anomaly detection, AI-driven coverage and capacity optimization, and automated energy-saving features-delivered a step-change in network efficiency. These improvements contributed to faster issue resolution, more stable KPIs, and substantial power savings aligned with Ooredoo's ESG commitments.
The upgraded geolocation system introduced highly accurate, multi-layer analytics that enabled the team to pinpoint customer experience issues at higher precision than before. This directly accelerated optimization cycles and strengthened our ability to address enterprise and consumer complaints with unprecedented accuracy.
Huawei AUTIN automation tools played a pivotal role in transforming day-to-day operations. With predictive alarms, self-healing capabilities, and automated ticketing, AUTIN reduced manual workload, improved mean-time-to-repair, and allowed engineers to shift from firefighting to proactive, value-driven innovation. Collectively, these advancements elevated Ooredoo's operational intelligence to a level unmatched in the local market.
AI-driven operations became a major differentiator. The team deployed RAN fault prediction, enabling proactive detection and resolution of issues before customer impact. This initiative contributed to Ooredoo achieving near TM Forum Autonomous Networks Level 4 (AN Level 4) in the TMF ANLAV assessment-one of the strongest indicators of operational intelligence and automation maturity in the region.
Entry Sources & Additional Supporting Information
A breakthrough accomplishment was the creation of a 100% in-house AI Traffic Forecasting Model, developed by Ooredoo engineers. This model accurately forecasts traffic growth across technologies, guiding critical CAPEX decisions, spectrum planning, and rollout prioritization with unmatched precision and cost savings.
Multiple internal AI initiatives further modernized operations, including the rollout of employee-facing AI agents that automate daily workflows, streamline reporting, and improve engineering productivity.
Together, these achievements-5G Advanced leadership, Gaming Turbo ecosystem, RedCap readiness, AI automation, RAN fault prediction, in-house forecasting engines, and significant progress toward AN Level 4-demonstrate Ooredoo Kuwait's commitment to pioneering technology development and its role in advancing Kuwait's digital landscape.
