Vitamin Marketing Agency, Istanbul Turkey
Organization Description:

Vitamin Marketing Services is a leading boutique marketing agency focused mainly on sports clubs, federations and corporate clients that sells products and services in Turkey and around the globe.

On November 27, 2025, during the official FIBA World Cup qualification game between Türkiye and Bosnia Herzegovina, Garanti BBVA delivered a first in basketball history: a branded robot entered the court and delivered the official game ball directly to the referee before tip-off.

This moment marked the first time technology was physically integrated into the live ritual of a professional basketball match, transforming a routine pre-game action into a powerful act of branded entertainment.

As one of Türkiye's leading financial institutions, Garanti BBVA has long positioned itself as a brand of innovation, digital leadership, and future-oriented thinking. However, in an increasingly saturated sponsorship landscape, traditional visibility assets-LED boards, logos on jerseys, generic halftime activations-were no longer enough to meaningfully differentiate the brand or emotionally engage younger audiences.

The challenge was clear:

How could Garanti BBVA move beyond logo exposure and instead create a cultural moment that embodied its promise of technological leadership?

Basketball fans, especially younger generations, expect sport to evolve alongside technology. From data-driven performance to immersive fan experiences, audiences are increasingly drawn to moments that feel futuristic, unexpected, and shareable.

We identified that the game's ceremonial moments-such as the delivery of the match ball-remain untouched traditions. By innovating within this sacred ritual, we could create impact without disrupting the integrity of the sport.

Instead of telling audiences that Garanti BBVA supports innovation, we chose to demonstrate it live on the court.

We created a custom-designed, branded robot that autonomously entered the court and delivered the official game ball directly into the hands of the referee moments before the opening tip. The robot was fully integrated into the match flow, treated not as a gimmick, but as an official part of the game experience.

The brand did not interrupt the game. The brand became part of the game.

The activation took place during a high-stakes environment:

  • Event: FIBA World Cup Qualification Game
  • Match: Türkiye vs Bosnia Herzegovina
  • Date: November 27, 2025
  • Stage: National team match with significant media presence, fan attention, and emotional intensity Cameras captured the moment live, ensuring organic broadcast exposure, strong social sharing potential, and PR value.
  • The result was a visually striking, culturally relevant, and conversation-worthy moment that extended far beyond the arena.

Why This Is Branded Entertainment Innovation:

This project redefined sponsorship from passive visibility to active participation. Instead of placing the brand around the game, we embedded the brand inside the experience itself.

  • It respected the sport while modernizing it
  • It delivered entertainment rather than interruption
  • It created a first-of-its-kind moment rather than a repeatable format
  • It positioned Garanti BBVA as a real-world innovator, not just a financial sponsor

This was not a campaign that talked about the future. It brought the future onto the court.

By transforming a simple but symbolic moment into a technological spectacle, Garanti BBVA successfully demonstrated that innovation is not just part of its communications-but part of its behavior.
