- Organization Description:
VakıfBank was founded in 1954 with a capital of 50 million TL to support economic development and improve national savings. Today, with its broad branch network, digital channels, and international presence, it maintains a strong position in the banking sector and continues contributing to Turkey's growth.
New Chapter: Court of Legends is a physical and cinematic project that approaches women's volleyball not only as a sport, but as a culture shaped by discipline, repetition, and long-term commitment. Reimagining the VakıfBank Women's Volleyball Team as a sculptural Chessboard of Legends, the project transforms a routine season roster announcement into a physical monument. This hybrid approach serves as a tribute to elite sportsmanship, mirroring the physical labor of the athlete through a rigorous 90 day creation process.
In a time when most visual content is generated in seconds, we chose a path that took 90 days of manual production. This project is a deliberate reminder that some stories only carry weight when they are built with patience and physical presence. We didn't want the team's season intro to be just another digital video lost in a feed; we wanted to create a physical artifact that honors the club's legacy in a way that feels permanent.
The process began with full-body 360-degree scanning sessions for all 17 players. We then spent weeks refining these scans in 3D modeling programs, focusing on a balance between a player's likeness and a more classical, sculptural aesthetic. Instead of chasing hyperrealism, we wanted the forms to feel timeless, more like icons. This led to months of 3D printing tests, where we constantly adjusted scales and material behaviors until the seventeen-player set finally felt right.
At the same time, we built a miniature version of the VakıfBank arena. This wasn't just a prop; it was a real architectural space translated into a reduced scale. We designed and produced every element separately. The field, the trophies, the lighting system, and even the seats on the tribunes with a seating capacity of 1,232. The logic of the set referenced a board game, reinforcing the idea that shrinking the scale doesn't make the work easier; it actually demands more precision in every detail.
The production phase lasted over 3 months and we burned through more than 5kg of filament. Our days became a continuous loop of printing, assembling, and testing. Every decision was made with the cinematography in mind. Calculating how the space would interact with the camera, the lighting, and even the fog machines on set.
For the filming, we treated the miniature world like a live sports venue. We used macro probe lenses, sliders, and gimbals to transform millimeters into a sense of scale. The camera acts as a silent spectator, gliding past players and across the court to build tension. The result is a visual language that feels epic and "big," but remains grounded in a reality you can actually touch.
What emerged was more than a squad reveal .It became a statement on the values shared between sport and craft, shaped through repetition, discipline, and an attention to detail earned over time.
The response from VakıfBank fans confirmed that this approach resonated because it reflected the values they associate with the club beyond the court. Court of Legends demonstrates how sports storytelling can function as lifestyle communication, showing that dedication, craft, and persistence are not only athletic principles, but ways of living that define both the team and its community.
